Ancient hero

The ancient hero (Japanese: 古代の英雄 Ancient Hero) is a character from the backstory of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The hero's tale is told in the Old Verses.

History

The ancient hero's tale happened over one or two millennia ago. The Old Verses and old legends say that the ancient hero traveled across the Hisui region to find 18 special Plates, stone tablets each imbued with the essence of a type, in order to meet the being known as almighty Sinnoh. During his quest, he was aided by ten Pokémon companions he had befriended in his travels. They were Wyrdeer, Kleavor, Ursaluna, Hisuian Lilligant, Basculegion, Hisuian Arcanine, Sneasler, Hisuian Electrode, Hisuian Braviary, and Hisuian Avalugg. Together, they located the 18 plates and travelled to the top of Mount Coronet to finally meet the deified Pokémon.

At the top of Mount Coronet, the ancient hero managed to defeat almight Sinnoh in battle, earning the creator's respect. In addition, his 10 Pokémon received blessings from the Alpha Pokémon by being struck by raining bolts of light[1]. They would then become the very first Noble and Ride Pokémon. Thus, the ancient hero and his ten companions become the protectors of the humans and Pokémon of Hisui[2]. The Temple of Sinnoh was later built to honor the ancient hero, his 10 Pokémon, and Arceus itself. At some point, after earning the name "hero", the man led his Pokémon companions against a being known as the "almighty unknowable", his valiance in battle proclaiming the strength of humankind, which the unknowable approved, returning to its "domain of no place".

The 10 Pokémon eventually had descendants. Years later, during the events of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the Diamond and Pearl Clans took over that role, assigning 10 Wardens, 5 from each clan to watch over the Noble and Ride Pokémon. During the climax of the game, as Dialga/Palkia transformed into its Origin Forme, the Temple of Sinnoh is heavily damaged, destroying statues of all of the ancient hero's Pokémon. The temple's ruins would be known as Spear Pillar.
