The Basement Key (Japanese: ちかのカギ Basement Key) is a Key Item introduced in Generation II. It unlocks the door to the basement of the Goldenrod Tunnel.

If the player interacts with the locked door in the Goldenrod Tunnel while the Basement Key is in the Bag, the door is permanently unlocked.

The Basement Key cannot be used directly from the Bag. This item is usable only once, but using it does not consume it.
