The Battle Rally (Japanese: バトルラリー Battle Rally) is a battle facility in Pokémon Masters EX. Introduced in version 2.41.0, it first became available on January 31, 2024. In the Battle Rally, players complete ten battles of increasing difficulty, aiming to earn as many rally points as possible. Players can purchase items from the rally shop to give stat boosts and other benefits to their sync pairs, making the battles easier to clear.

Overview

The Battle Rally consists of 10 areas, each of which contains three battles of varying difficulty: Normal, Hard, and Very Hard. Players must clear a battle of any difficulty level to clear the area. The stats of the opponents are increased in each successive area, from a 100% increase in area 2 to an 800% increase in area 9. The stats of the opponents in area 10 are not increased, but their difficulty level is comparable to that of Ultimate Battles.

Challenging the Battle Rally

To take on the Battle Rally, players must use a battle rally pass. The player receives one battle rally pass for free the first time they visit the Battle Rally. Additional rally passes can be obtained from the Battle Rally missions, which refresh every week. To commemorate the opening of the Battle Rally, a special log-in bonus awarded players 3 limited-time rally passes.

The player can hold a total of 5 battle rally passes at a time. If the player tries to claim a rally pass when they already have the maximum amount of passes, the additional pass will be deleted.

Earning points

Upon starting each Battle Rally, the player receives 500 rally points as a "good-luck bonus". The player will earn 100 Rally points for completing the Normal difficulty Battle, 200 Rally points for completing the Hard difficulty Battle, and 300 Rally points for completing the Very Hard difficulty Battle. In addition, each area has two bonus roles; using a sync pair that has one of the bonus roles gives the player a +0.5× bonus to the rally points earned after battle. If the sync pair's EX role has been unlocked, the EX role also counts for this bonus—even if the sync pair has not been raised to 6★ EX. If a sync pair's role and EX role match both of the bonus roles, that sync pair gives a +1× bonus to the rally points.

Sync pairs with the Multi role are a special case. The Multi role receives a bonus on every stage, but it is only a +0.2× bonus to the rally points. If the Multi sync pair's EX role has been unlocked, they will give a +0.7× bonus to the rally points on any stage that matches their EX role.

Occasionally, a Lucky area will appear in the rally. This area has only one battle, which consists of three low-level Togepi, and awards 600 rally points upon completion. Only one Lucky area can appear in a single Battle Rally challenge.

The following table lists how many rally points can be earned with each bonus multiplier (excluding Multi bonuses):

Bonus multiplier Number of matching roles Points earned
Normal Hard Very Hard Lucky
×1 0 100 200 300 600
×1.5 1 150 300 450 900
×2 2 200 400 600 1200
×2.5 3 250 500 750 1500
×3 4 300 600 900 1800
×3.5 5 350 700 1050 2100
×4 6 400 800 1200 2400

The roles that receive bonus in each area are ordered according to one of 25 different lists. Some of these have a unique starting combination, which can be used to predict what roles will receive bonus in each area. For example, if Area 1 gives a bonus to Strike and Sprint sync pairs, then Area 2 will give a bonus to Tech and Support sync pairs. The order the roles are listed matters: if Area 1 gives a bonus to Sprint and Strike sync pairs, then Area 2 will give a bonus to Strike and Tech sync pairs.

Opponent stat bonuses

The Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, and Sp. Def of the opponents in each area are multiplied by a certain amount, which makes the battles more difficult as the player progresses. The opponents in lucky battles do not have any stat increases. The opponents in Area 10 are on par with those faced in Ultimate Battles, so their stats are not increased on Normal and Hard difficulty. The opponents in the Very Hard battle in Area 10 have their stats increased by 100% (a ×2 multiplier).

Items

There are a variety of items available exclusively in the Battle Rally, which offer unique benefits to the player's team. One is given to the player at random at the start of each Battle Rally; all others must be purchased from the rally shop. These items are divided into two categories, based on the duration of their effect: continuous and single use.

Continous

Continuous items have effects that last for every remaining battle in the rally. Upon starting each Battle Rally, the player receives one random Upgrade item as a "good-luck bonus", which boosts the stats of all sync pairs if at least one sync pair on the team has a certain theme skill. All other continuous items must be purchased from the rally shop.

Single Use

Single Use have effects that only last for the following battle. All Single Use items must be purchased from the rally shop, but some are only available in certain areas.

Rally Shop

The rally shop is a special shop that is only accessible through the Battle Rally. Items in the rally shop can only be purchased with rally points, and the lineup of items in the rally shop changes each time the player clears an area. Occasionally, an item will be on sale, meaning it costs half its normal price.

Players can only buy one of each item each time the item is available, but items may be available in the shop in multiple areas. Purchasing an item multiple times will multiply its effect; for example, purchasing two copies of Normal Upgrade will boost the stats of all sync pairs by 200% when a Normal-type sync pair is on the team. Some items, such as those that create permanent field effects, can only be purchased once.

While most items in the rally shop are selected randomly, certain items are guaranteed to appear in the rally shop when the player reaches certain areas. The following table lists all these items and which areas they are guaranteed to appear in. In addition to these, the Upgrade item that the player received at the start of the rally is guaranteed to appear in the rally shop in all areas.
