Haru (Japanese: ハル Haru) is the protagonist of Pokémon Concierge. She works as a newly-hired concierge at the Pokémon Resort.

History

Prior to arriving at the Pokémon Resort, Haru worked at an unknown business, as she reminisced about having to do project presentations there. A series of unfortunate events happened to Haru in the span of one week, including Haru being broken up with by her boyfriend, her work friend quitting, and her fumbling two important presentations, all of which led Haru to pursue a new career at the Pokémon Resort.

Upon arriving at the Pokémon Resort island, Haru was greeted by Watanabe, who explained to Haru her job as a concierge, and tasked Haru on her first day to enjoy her stay at the Resort as a guest, which puzzled her. Haru was soon introduced to her co-workers Tyler and Alisa, who demonstrated their various jobs at the Resort. On the evening, Haru received a massage from Watanabe and fell asleep in her presence. Embarrassed, Haru later stayed up at night working on an activity report and presented it to Watanabe the next morning, but Watanabe simply asked Haru how her day yesterday went. As Haru struggled to answer, she notices Tyler's elemental monkeys messing about nearby, which caused her to burst out laughing, realizing that she can simply relax, have fun, and not worry so much at the Pokémon Resort. Watanabe praises Haru's answer and gives her a bandana as the uniform for concierges at the Resort, and tasked Haru to find a Pokémon and make it feel the same way she did.

While mulling over the task Watanabe gave her, Haru saw a Psyduck that later retreated into the bushes. Later, Alisa advised her that Pokémon simply won't tell Haru what makes them happy, and that it's something she should figure out by herself. During Haru's exercise with Tyler, she again noticed the Psyduck, and Tyler explained to her that the Psyduck had been under Watanabe's care at the Pokémon Resort for 2 weeks and that it was really shy, which turned out to be due to its fear of causing trouble with its psychic powers. Haru took it upon herself to befriend the Psyduck and make it feel happy by helping it control its psychic powers, which she succeeded in by the end of her second day.

In I Hope I Can Evolve Too..., Haru discovered her talent in making pool float flower bouquets.

In I'm a Role Model Now?, Haru is tasked to train the newly-hired concierge Dan.

Character

Haru overthinking

At the start of the series, Haru exhibited a neurotic personality and was prone to overthinking things — when Watanabe tasked Haru on her first day at work to enjoy her stay at the Pokémon Resort as a guest, she thought Watanabe was somehow testing her. Nevertheless, her working and living at the Pokémon Resort island gradually causes her to loosen up and be more relaxed.

Haru is a big fan of Pikachu — she owns a Pikachu T-shirt and expresses joy when a tour group of twelve Pikachu and their Trainers arrive at the Resort. Haru enjoys sweets, and is sometimes seen eating candy packaged in a tin.

Psyduck is Haru's only known Pokémon. It was originally in the care of Watanabe at the Pokémon Resort.

According to Tyler, Psyduck had stayed at the Pokémon Resort for about two weeks prior to Haru's arrival. Initially, it had a withdrawn personality and preferred to hide, stemming from its fear of causing trouble with its psychic powers, which it lacked control over. After it helps Haru out of a situation, the latter helps it channel its psychic powers, causing the two to bond together and Psyduck's personality to grow to become more laid-back.

Psyduck's only known move is Confusion.
