Hiroyuki Tani
Hiroyuki Tani (Japanese: 谷博行[1] Tani Hiroyuki) is a planner who has worked at Game Freak since 2014.[2] Tani worked as a programmer while at CyberConnect2,[1] but joined Game Freak as a planner because he felt more motivated to think about game mechanics than programming.[3] He joined Game Freak with the goal of receiving better feedback on his work due to the wide range of Pokémon players.[3]
Tani has been involved with the core series Pokémon games as a planner starting with Pokémon Sun and Moon, served as the director of the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass, and as the Planning Section Director and the lead planner for Pokémon AI on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. For Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, he was responsible for the Alola Photo Club and Mantine Surf.[4]
