The Icy Rock (Japanese: つめたいいわ Icy Rock ) is a type of held item introduced in Generation IV . It extends the duration of hail or snow .
In the core series games Price Effect If the Pokémon holding this item creates hail with the moves Hail or Max Hailstorm , or the Ability Snow Warning (starting from Generation VI ), it lasts eight turns instead of five turns. In Generation IX , it instead affects a Pokémon creating snow with the moves Snowscape or Chilly Reception , or the Ability Snow Warning, as hail is not present in these games.
In the Generation VII games, if hail has its duration extended by the Icy Rock, the turn counter on the user interface for these effects will indicate that it lasts for 8 turns for the player whose Pokémon used the move, while it will display that it lasts for 5 turns for their opponent. After 5 turns of hail have passed, the user interface will display that it lasts for 8 turns for both players.
Other uses In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire , if held by a nicknamed Regice in the party, along with Regirock and Registeel , allows to spawn Regigigas in Island Cave , except at night or before defeating/catching Groudon OR Kyogre AS

Acquisition Icy Rock is a possible ingredient that can be obtained by completing expeditions on Tumblecube Island . As they are blue, Icy Rocks are most commonly found in the areas Backforth Brook , Belly Button Cave , and Hushed Highlands . They can also be obtained randomly by recycling Power Stones .
