Long Reach (Ability)

Long Reach (Japanese: えんかく Distant) is an Ability introduced in Generation VII. It is the signature Ability of Rowlet and its Evolutions, except Hisuian Decidueye.

Effect

In battle

If the Pokémon uses a contact move, it will not activate any effects caused by contact.

Although other contact moves are also affected by the Ability, they cannot be learned by any Pokémon with Long Reach. They may, however, be called via Metronome, Mirror Move, Copycat, or Mimic, or be used by a Pokémon that gained Long Reach by an Ability like Trace or Receiver or a move such as Skill Swap or Role Play.

Outside of battle

Long Reach has no effect outside of battle.

• In Pokémon Legends: Arceus's internal code, Hisuian Decidueye's Hidden Ability is Long Reach instead of Scrappy.

In other games

Pokémon UNITE

In Pokémon UNITE, Long Reach is Decidueye's Ability. It increases damage dealt to distant enemies by 20%. Additional damage added per level from each move's damage formula is excluded from this bonus.
