201

Nobunaga is seen much like a villain for most of The Legend of Ransei, having the ambition to take over the entirety of Ransei. The Hero/Heroine first meets Nobunaga in person after joining forces with Shingen and Kenshin. It is here that Nobunaga reveals his intentions to conquer Ransei, and that Nobunaga is Oichi's brother. Oichi tries to learn more about her brother's intentions but fails, and Nobunaga leaves.

After conquering all of Nobunaga's territories, the Hero/Heroine challenges Nobunaga himself at Dragnor's castle, where Nobunaga calls upon his Zekrom to battle. The Hero/Heroine is successful, but Nobunaga escapes. After the Hero/Heroine links with Arceus, Nobunaga returns, calling upon his Black Rayquaza and his closest allies in a final bid to stop the Hero/Heroine.

After accepting defeat, Nobunaga reveals the real reason he desired to conquer Ransei. The Warlord had truly loved the region, as well as the people and Pokémon that lived there. However, as the battles to see who would conquer Ransei raged, Nobunaga had begun to notice that Warriors were starting to treat their Pokémon partners as nothing but mere tools. Believing the legend of Arceus to be nothing more than a fairy tale, Nobunaga partnered with Zekrom to conquer Ransei and put an end to the ceaseless battles.

Due to link caps, and most evolutions triggering on stat thresholds, certain Pokémon linked to this Warrior require high IVs to evolve.

Evolution eligibility in this table assumes the following:

  • Max Energy multiplier of 1.1× applied to stats.
  • The full range of 0-31 IVs is considered. (Default Pokémon have 15 IVs in every stat, while wild Pokémon can have 0-31 IVs)

Notes:

  • Passwords can bypass normal availability checks in any story.
  • Pokémon marked with an asterisk (*) next to their password eligibility require an unofficial password.
  • "Direct link" means linking to that exact Pokémon in the wild, as opposed to evolving a previous form of it.

Trivia

  • Nobunaga is the only Warrior that has a unique Warrior Skill at Rank I.
  • When upgraded, Nobunaga has the highest stat total of all warriors, at 296.
  • Nobunaga is coded to have Garchomp as his default Pokémon in Two Heroes of Ransei, however it is extremely unlikely that the player would ever see this:
    • The default Pokémon is assigned to a Warrior when they are faced as an enemy. If the player then recruits them, and the Warrior has not been registered to the Gallery before, they will keep their default Pokémon. If they are already in the Gallery however, their owned Pokémon will be restored according to the Gallery's records. If the Warrior then leaves the army during the same story, they will maintain their Gallery-restored Pokémon until the story ends.
    • Two Heroes of Ransei starts with Nobunaga already in the player's army, and unlocking that story requires clearing Nobunaga's own story, where he is again already in the army. In order to see Nobunaga with the default Garchomp in Two Heroes of Ransei, the player would need to clear Nobunaga's story and then start Two Heroes without ever registering Nobunaga to the Gallery - meaning never using him in a battle.

Historical origin

Nobunaga is based on the real-life Oda Nobunaga of Japanese history. was his wife, Kitsuno was his concubine, Oichi was his sister, and Urakusai was his brother. Gotoku was his daughter, as possibly was Tsuru. Ujisato was his son-in-law through his daughter, Fuyuhime (who is not in the game), and Tomonori was related by marriage through Nobunaga's son (Oda Nobukatsu) and Tomonori's daughter (neither of whom are in the game).

Yoshitaka, Masahide, Nagahide, Narimasa, Murashige, and Kazumasu were some of his officers. Rikyū was a tea master of Nobunaga's, while Urakusai was Rikyū's student. Yoshiaki was the puppet shogun Nobunaga set up. Mitsuhide, Ranmaru, and Hideyoshi were also samurai who served in Nobunaga's army (before betraying him, following him in death, and succeeding him, respectively).
