- If you were looking for the location in Pokémon Rumble, see Rocky Cave (Rumble).
The Rocky Cave (Japanese: 岩石の空洞 Rock Hollow) is a type of hideaway seen in the Grand Underground. It can only be accessed after the player obtains the Explorer Kit in Eterna City from the Underground Man, and features Pokémon that roam the cave freely, instead of being found in tall grass.
Geography
Rocky Caves are arid, sand and rock filled caverns, with some cacti and other flora. Some rocks and plants are taller than the player, and must be navigated around.

After the player fulfills a particular objective during their adventure, another group of Pokémon are added to the pool of possible encounters. The spawn rates for certain types are influenced by the active "Statue Effect" applied by a player's Secret Base Statues.
Rare Spawns
Rare Spawns run concurrently to the existing encounter table, and use independent percentages for their rates.
