Yūto's Armarouge (Japanese: ユウトのグレンアルマ Yūto's Gurenarma) is one of the main characters of PT16 and Yūto's second known Pokémon.

History

Charcadet (left) and its Shiny friend (right)

Armarouge was once a wild Charcadet that traveled alongside its Shiny Charcadet friend. The two were seen trying to reach some Sitrus Berries up on a tree, but fell short every single time. Driven by hunger, Charcadet robbed a passing traveler of his sandwich without him noticing. Although Shiny Charcadet was nervous of the repercussions, its hunger proved too much and it shared the meal with its friend.

Later, while playing in West Province (Area Three), the two came across a Rotom Phone. The device flew into regular-colored Charcadet's face and began to display clips of a battle tournament held in Mesagoza. The battles enthralled it so much it failed to notice the phone's owner, Yūto, approaching it, though Shiny Charcadet hid between a tree. Yūto challenged it to a battle for the phone with his Shroomish. Regular-colored Charcadet was defeated with ease, and Yūto invited it to join him in order to learn how to properly battle. Regular-colored Charcadet accepted the invitation without hesitation, leaving its Shiny friend behind.

Now one of Yūto's Pokémon, Charcadet eventually watched its Trainer battle against Gym Leader Kofu. It grew unable to contain itself and interfered in their battle, launching an Ember at Kofu's Crabominable without any warning. In retaliation, the Woolly Crab Pokémon quickly defeated it with a single Crabhammer. Yūto praised its spirit and told it they needed to learn how to battle the right way.

The Auspicious Armor Charcadet used to evolve

They then battled multiple Trainers until Charcadet was able to defeat Yūto's Breloom. Seeing that as a sign of its growth, Yūto took the Fire Child Pokémon to a room of his house where a set of Auspicious Armor was kept and told it about a legend involving Charcadet. Compelled by the armor, Charcadet touched it and evolved into Armarouge. After it evolved, its teammates offered it a sandwich, which sparked a memory of the time it and its Shiny friend shared one.

Armarouge battling Ceruledge

Some time later, a new battle tournament began in Mesagoza. While doing an interview, a Ceruledge appeared on the nearby battlefield and caught Armarouge and Yūto's attention. The moment Armarouge and Ceruledge locked eyes, the Fire Blades Pokémon immediately attacked. Armarouge attempted to counter, but Ceruledge used its speed and a nearby Grimmsnarl as a shield. It was then that Armarouge realized the Ceruledge was its former friend, Charcadet.

Ceruledge retreated to the rooftops, and Armarouge followed on its own. Both parties exchanged blow after blow before unleashing their final attack and landing back on the battlefield. Although it looked as if Armarouge was about to lose, Ceruledge ended up collapsing. With the fight over, Armarouge laid next to Ceruledge and the two shared a laugh together for the first time in ages. Yūto, realizing the two were close, offered Ceruledge a spot on his team. The Shiny Pokémon refused, having accepted that their paths no longer aligned. The two separated once more, this time having a proper goodbye.

Later on, Armarouge was shown in a Gym battle against Tulip and her Florges. While Terastalized, it prepared to launch an Armor Cannon.

Personality and characteristics

Since it was a Charcadet, Armarouge was obsessed with training and becoming stronger, and did not hesitate to join Yūto when it offered to help it grow. It can be both stubborn and impatient. Its impatience was shown during Yūto's battle against Kofu when it jumped into the middle of the battle only to get knocked away.

It was shown to care for its Shiny Charcadet friend, though its love for battling was stronger. When offered the chance to become strong, it abandoned its friend without even saying goodbye. After being confronted later on by Ceruledge's rage, it reforged their friendship, with both accepting that they had different paths to walk and parted on good terms.
