Nao (Japanese: ナオ Nao) is a character in Pokémon Concierge. He appears as a guest of the titular Resort in Welcome to the Pokémon Resort!

History

Nao owns a Pikachu, but it is quiet and isn't very social, unlike most Pikachu. Nao visited the Pokémon Resort as part of a tour group of Pikachu Trainers at their advice, in order to find a way to make his Pikachu louder and more "Pikachu-like". When Nao encountered Haru and explained to her the situation, Haru offers to help Nao by showing him and his Pikachu around the Resort and its many facilities. They first tried the zip line, but Nao's Pikachu is afraid of heights and refuses to get on the ride. They tried other methods to elicit a reaction from Nao's Pikachu, such as shouting in the mountains to hear the echoes, trying out Tyler's spicy curry, and later scaring Pikachu, but none of them work.

At noon, while the group rested in Haru's lodging, Haru drew a picture of Nao's Pikachu and her Psyduck together, and eventually realized that Nao's Pikachu does not need to be taught to be more "Pikachu-like". Haru explained this to Nao while Pikachu and Psyduck are playing at the beach, and she invited Nao to simply have fun with his Pikachu. Nao tried out tubing with his Pikachu down the side of the nearby hill, and his Pikachu finally feels like he is having fun. The next day, as the Pikachu tour group prepared to depart from the Resort island, Nao thanked Haru and Haru gifted Nao's Pikachu her drawing.

Character

Nao is a cheerful, polite, and naive young boy. He initially wanted his Pikachu to be louder like a typical Pikachu, but eventually grows out of this mindset and lets his Pikachu be himself.

Pikachu is Nao's only known Pokémon. Unlike most other Pikachu, Nao's Pikachu is quiet and withdrawn, and doesn't seem to enjoy being social. Haru offers to help Nao make his Pikachu have a "louder" voice, but nothing they try works. Eventually, Haru and Nao realize that Nao does not need to force his Pikachu into being more outspoken, and that his withdrawn personality does not detract from it being a Pikachu. After Nao realizes this, his bond with Pikachu grows stronger and Pikachu becomes happier by Nao's side.

When Pikachu is gifted Haru's drawing of him and Haru's Psyduck together, he is so overjoyed that he shouts to Haru as he and Nao depart from the Pokémon Resort island.

None of Pikachu's moves are known.
